About
I’m a God-fearin’, husband-lovin’, child raisin’ techie who enjoys the eastern Midwest and exploring the outdoors, the internet and life.
I started blogging in 2006 at “Adventures with Emily” when my husband and I were paperchasing (working on a bazillion pages of official adoption paperwork) for our daughter, whom we adopted from Kazakhstan. It was a era when I questioned my sanity and had a really hard time keeping track of all the schedules. First do this, THEN do this and when you’re all done with that, then you have to do this. I needed a place to keep it all straight.
As the tide changed, so did my blog. I went from the crazy, rat-race of paperwork to finding out that we were traveling in January of 2007 and my blog changed with me. I no longer documented for my sanity, I documented and journaled because I wanted to remember every single thing that I could about our experience and I wanted others to experience what we did every day. We flew to Kazakhstan to meet our daughter and shared as much as we could with our family and friends back home. Along the way, we picked up some new readers that were also part of the adoption community.
“Adventures with Emily” is still an active blog and I now use it to document all the interesting things that go along with raising a young one. Our daughter has cerebral palsy and I use my blog to post updates on appointments, treatments and therapies and have met several new readers due to that new connection. My hope is to one day turn Emily’s blog into a hard back book for her to enjoy when she’s older.
As that part of my life unfolds and my daughter is getting older, I’m finding that my life doesn’t totally revolve around being a mom and that I have other interests. Go figure! I’ve created Snickerdoodledoo! as a place to write about other topics, to review and recommend websites and books and to share a little bit more of myself.
