Simply websites that I’ve checked out and enjoy. Some are related to technology and my hobbies and others are simply sites worth sharing.

WOTD: SixthSense Technology

Today’s Website Of The Day is a TEDtalk by Pranav Mistry on:

The Thrilling Potential of SixthSense Technology

My question:  If Pranav gave this talk in Nov. 2009 and the info was released as open source and the hardware is pretty inexpensive, why haven’t we seen anything on the market yet?  Am I missing something?  There are so many practical uses for this technology!  Check it out!

WOTD: More Kazakh Adoption Blogs!

In looking at my “Adventures with Emily” blog stats the other morning, I found that quite a few of you were coming from a site called “Kazakhstan Adoption Blogs“. I had no idea this site was out there or that I was connected to it.
Love it! Thanks for including us!

My favorite part is that the most recently updated sites are shown at the top of each category. It tells you the name of the blog, the title of the most recent post and when it was last updated. Right now, I’m #10 of over 145 blogs listed in my category. But as soon as I click “Publish Post” I’ll be moved up to #1!

Check it out! Go to Kazakhstan Adoption Blogs!

WOTD: AllMyFaves.com

We’ve got 1 day of school left where I work and each year as we get closer to summer vacation, I get worried about what our kidlets will get into over vacation.

Many of our kids will go swimming at the local pool, play with their friends, and all the other usual stuff that kids do when they’re on vacation.  However, many of our kids are left at home during the day while their parents go to work.  There are TVs and computers at home and some of our kids will stay inside ALL day long.  Kids today aren’t nearly as adventurous as I was when I was a kid… but granted, I didn’t have the internet or the ability to text friends all day long.  I didn’t have a DVR and countless channels to flip through in order to find something that might catch my interest for a half an hour at a time.

Today’s WOTD: Website of the Day is a jumping off point that I would have loved to have access to and still find it quite entertaining and eye-opening.  I’m always looking for something new to check out on the web and AllMyFaves brings out hundreds if not thousands of new sites to check out.  Things are broken out by broad and more specific categories.

All My Faves

Now, just because I posted a blog entry with a link to this site doesn’t mean that the school district where I work endorses this site. No, it simply means that I am intrigued by this site and will probably refer a few of my teacher friends to it for future reference and that it might be a neat place for parents and kids to check out together.  Be safe out there people and please use good judgment!

WOTD: RealTime Church

It's so easy!

It's so easy!

What a neat concept.  RealTime Church in their words is, “Social networking that does something. Realtime Church isn’t a church. There is no building. There is no congregation. There are no elders… so go ahead and say it. It’s not a church.”

The concept is simple.  Post a need.  Browse current needs.  Pray and offer support to those in need… all through the power of the internet.  Their website is based on Blogger and they are linked in through Facebook, Twitter and email.

I love the concept and I love that it’s spreading across the country and into other countries.  Take a look and take part!
